How to Be an Industry-Leading Locum Agency

One of our goals here at Tiva Healthcare is to maintain our position as an industry leader in locum tenens healthcare staffing. Doing so is not as easy as it sounds, given the tremendous amount of competition within our industry. Nonetheless, we owe it to both our clients and the physicians we recruit to be the best we can be.

We continuously perform research to help us better understand how we can continue being an industry leader. What we found was not all that surprising. Becoming and remaining an industry leader involves doing many of the things we already do. Of course, there is always room for improvement in every organization. We are striving to improve every day.

Personalized Service

Every business succeeds or fails on its level of customer service. In healthcare staffing, we have two customer bases: the clients who hire us to provide them staffing and the clinicians we recruit to meet client needs.

When asked, clinicians consistently rate the need for personalized service as high on the list of priorities, which isn’t surprising. Locum clinicians are self-employed individuals who use organizations like Tiva to arrange assignments. They are the customers to our service provision. Therefore, they expect the same kind of personalized service from us that they would get from any other organization they do business with.

Seamless Coordination

Working as a locums physician means having to worry about coordinating travel, housing, and a list of other arrangements with each new assignment. Some staffing agencies leave it all to their clinicians to handle. Others have staff members tasked with the responsibility of coordinating everything. We have found that locums clinicians are looking for seamless coordination from their staffing agencies.

Clinicians want to know before they leave home that all their travel has been arranged. They want to know about their housing: where it is, what it includes, etc. They want to know that payroll and malpractice insurance issues have been taken care of. They even want to know that licensing and credentialing requirements have been cleared.

Relationships Built on Trust

A relationship built on trust is more likely to succeed than one in which trust is lacking. We know this all too well in the healthcare staffing industry. We need to be able to trust our locums to fulfill their assignments in a way that keeps clients happy and protects our reputation. At the same time, our locums are trusting us to watch their backs.

As a healthcare staffing agency, we owe it to locums physicians to be completely honest and transparent with them. We must be willing to give them all the information they need to make an informed decision even if that means they might turn down the assignment before them. If there is anything about a particular assignment a clinician really needs to know to make a wise decision, we must disclose that information.

It takes hard work to be an industry-leading healthcare staffing agency. Here at Tiva, we do not take our responsibility to clients or clinicians lightly. We know that in order for them to be the best they can be, we also have to be the very best at what we do.

For us to maintain our position as an industry leader, we are working harder than ever before to offer the kind of service our clinicians expect. That means more personalized service, better coordination, and relationships with our clinicians built on mutual trust and respect.
